Amber tincture – 25g
The active ingredient of the tincture that has a therapeutic effect is succinic acid (C4H6O4). The properties of the acid contained in amber have been confirmed by the scientific research, and some are based on the long-lasting, traditional use of the tincture. Recent researches done by Polish scientists have proved that succinic acid has antibacterial properties and the ability to eliminate pathogenic germs. An interesting fact is that during the plague epidemic none of the workers excavating and polishing amber in Konigsberg ever got infected.
The most popular applications of the tincture are:

Recipe for the amber tincture.
Pour a portion of raw amber (25 g) into a glass container with a lid, add pure spirit (about 200-250 ml) and leave for about 14 days. During this time, shake the tincture once a day. The spirit will change to a golden color as a result of the release of succinic acid. After you have used the tincture, you can topped the amber with spirit again, but first you have to crush the amber e.g. with a small hammer.
